The driveway was reconstructed 12/2020 and allows seamless access from early spring to late fall. The exit to the meadow and the parking area itself are paved. The original 30 cm thick soil has been replaced with flat stones and a 0/63 gravel base course. On top of this is a finer 4/8 gravel. The area will be further modified if necessary and based on further experience. If there is no more than 10 cm of snow, we can come in winter. However, this is only recommended for expedition cars with proper tires or for camperless drivers with winter driving experience with chains. In general, ice can be a complication as the driveway is not maintained or treated in winter.
There are plenty of destinations for shorter and longer and more demanding trips on bicycles (Libín 1093mnm/8km, Klet 1084mnm/25km, Knížecí stolec 1236mnm/30km and within easy reach by car are the medieval towns of Prachatice (10km), Český Krumlov (25km) or the village of Holašovice (UNESCO, 20km). Those who don't seek crowds may prefer cycling among the cherry orchards of Lhenicka or the flat pond area of Netolicka, which can be cleverly combined with a train ride back to Chrobol.
There is a small stream with drinking water running through the property, a few metres from where you are staying. The Golden Brook itself is also nearby, but its marshy banks are overgrown with thick brush in these parts. It is only from Keplův Mlýn - or better still, from Frantol downstream - that it becomes a small stream where the weary cyclist can refresh himself in the summer heat. For swimming, we recommend the freely accessible swimming pool/fire reservoir Chroboly (2.5km), the Ktišský pond on the edge of the military area Boletice (10km by car, 8km by bike) or the highest pond in the Czech Republic - Křištěňák (13km).
Personally, we like to visit and rediscover the now overgrown sites of the original Sudeten villages, of which there are several within walking distance.
If there are sheep in the pasture, which is especially the case during the summer months from July to mid-October, please keep an eye on your dogs so that they do not run into the pen. Dispose of any poo in the immediate vicinity of the caravan, e.g. by throwing it into the pen (children often play on the grass around the caravan). Please do not pee on the gravel pile, the guests' children play here too... -We were considering installing a bathhouse and thus the possibility to "open" the site for camping. But at the moment we have decided to keep the site exclusively for motorhomes/caravans, where we expect to use our own toilet. The site, its immediate and distant surroundings remain virtually untouched and clean.-Thanks in advance for your cooperation :)
