The capacity of the cottage is 6 beds (one double bed and two bunk beds in the second room designed in the spirit of a cabin on a fishing boat). Pillows and duvets are provided on all beds (weak - for warmer seasons). Please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bags. There are two 200 x 80 cm mattresses on the double bed.
The cottage has a flush toilet, sink and a wood-burning stove with hot water and shower. The water has to be drawn from the well at the cottage by a pump into a 220 litre barrel on the roof, from where it then flows by gravity. The water is utilitarian, most of it is seepage from the stream and it visited several ponds on the way to us. We regularly treat the water with chlorine. The wastewater ends up in an organic treatment plant.
Electricity and lighting of the whole cottage is solved through a 12 V photovoltaic circuit. You can recharge your mobile phone from two USB-A sockets. Those who take a voltage converter to the 12 V car socket can also charge a laptop.
For preparing food or water for coffee/tea and for cold days, the cottage has a wood-burning stove with a hot plate. The equipment also includes pots, plates, frying pan as well as cutlery and knives. Outside, there is a fire pit and outdoor seating under a century-old willow tree. There is also a pleasant seating area on the covered terrace above the Beaver Creek with a view of the Vlhošt' hill. There is also a hiking gas stove with a 7/16" screw valve. Bring your own gas bottle. There is a barrel buried under the hut - it serves as a food cellar.
The surrounding land is nearly 6,000 feet and is all planted with Japanese poplars. It is surrounded by the dammed Beaver Creek, which flowed through several ponds on the way here. The water is pleasantly warm, you can swim right next to the cottage (the least mud on the bottom is at the branch of the water dam).
From the cottage it is a short walk to a number of castles in the area (Vítkovec, Rybnov, Hostíkovic). There is a system of Holanské Ponds with famous film locations (the film Hastrman, the sci-fi series European Tribes). You can visit the rocky valley of Peklo u Zahrádek (in spring for the ivy), Máchovo jezero, Bezděz or Ronov Castle.
The cottage is in a completely remote location off the beaten track. Parking is available 300 meters from the cottage, you can bring your belongings on the carriage, which is ready under the cottage. If you have a car suitable for off-road (the road is overgrown with blackberries), you can drive through the meadow on a dirt road practically to the cottage.
The evening before your stay, we will email you instructions on how to open the cottage and a link to a website where you can download a detailed photo navigation of the route to the property.

Trouble-free arrival even in bad weather
The first access route is on asphalt, plowed in winter. The last 50 metres are unpaved. The second access road leads through meadows, is passable only in dry weather or if there is no snow and with an off-road vehicle with a higher chassis (Nissan Navara, Ford Ranger, etc.). Directions for the second road are sent on request.

The surroundings of Holanské rybníky are rather flat with basalt hills Vlhošt', Ronov or Bezděz. A dense network of small roads and dirt tracks. A short distance from the cottage is the cycle route 3098 from Horní Police to Zahrádek. Then the famous paradise for cyclists Ralsko.

In the forest above the cottage, a popular red hiking trail leads from Holany past the castles of Rybnov and Vítkovec via a goat footbridge to the Dolanský waterfall. Then on to the Smrtka lookout and Ronov. It is also possible to climb to Vlhošt' and continue to the rocks of the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area beyond. An interesting feature is the wild Beaver Gorge near Kravaře with a waterfall. And of course the rock valley of Peklo near Zahrádek.

There is a strict no smoking policy in the cottage.
Please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bags.
No wet wipes or chemicals in the toilet! Waste water ends up in a purifier with natural bacteria, plastic wet wipes do not decompose.
Don't take dogs to bed! The hair will get through the sheets and into the mattresses.
Don't forget to clean up after yourself when you leave!

everything was great
The stay in the cottage at Ledňáček was great, we enjoyed it with my son very much. Quiet place, but still within easy reach of civilization and the ability to get almost to the destination by car.
The cottage is well equipped, we did not miss anything at all. Upon arrival there was dry firewood waiting for us in the hut, which we appreciated a lot - we arrived in the evening and it was still raining, so the possibility of quick heating was a big plus.
We got our stuff from the car (we parked a little further away, in front of the bridge, because of the muddy forest road) in two trips, no problem. There's a new wide bridge over the causeway, no more shuffling the carriage over logs. The path from the car park to the cottage is smooth, well trodden, no nettles.
All the equipment was in the hut, we made use of the board games, and had a good time. I consider a shower with hot water as a big bonus in this type of accommodation.
There was plenty of wood around, we gathered enough for a campfire. There are plenty of hiking opportunities in the area.
I appreciated the remoteness of the place, the quiet, the birds singing, the electricity from the solar panels with the possibility of charging your phone. We would love to come back again sometime.
We spent a long weekend at this cottage and can only recommend it. If you are looking for peace, privacy and contact with nature, this is the place.
The cottage is truly secluded in the middle of beautiful nature between ponds, so you are not disturbed by anything but the sounds of the forest and water. It's the perfect place to relax, slow down and "turn your head off".
Our third stay here and everything ok.
Before arrival, the owner sends a comprehensive manual for the use of the cottage, where you will find everything you need for normal and problematic operation. You have utility water on site and with a little walk there is also drinking water from the well in the village of Little Beaver (we drink without treatment and filters). Smaller devices can be charged via USB from the solar panels. The cottage has all the basic equipment for cooking, woodworking, cleaning and basic functioning and it is in good condition. All you need is a sleeping bag, gas, a burner and a mug. The stove is easy to use, has good draft and heats the hut quickly. The Holany area is also one of the nicest pieces of the Czech countryside I have visited so far.
And the presence of the kingfisher has been confirmed again this year. He even showed off for a while in front of our camera.
Everything fit as described. We did not try the stove for heating water. Someone of a stronger build would probably have trouble fitting into the shower and toilet. Utility water very murky. Otherwise, wonderful setting, amenities too.
Absolutely gorgeous and cozy cabin hidden among the swamps. The autumn weather gave it a wonderful charm, when you feel like in a fairy tale in the hut in the fog. The hut is also superbly equipped, with board games for a fun evening by candlelight. Sleeping on the bunks is great for the kids. With two small children (six months and 3 years) for the weekend is just right, without children (or with a little older) I can imagine to stay here for a longer time, hike around the area, in the evening vegetate with wine with a movie or board games, outside by the fire to have a roast, especially fishermen will come into their own
